Heisenberg’s and Schrödinger’s approaches to quantum mechanics may have complemented each other, but their equivalence is less obvious. Ultimately, it was von Neumann’s mathematical framework that supplied a self-contained quantum theory. Tonight’s lecture by Professor Ivo Sachs (LMU) retraces the journey to a cogent and consistent theory of quantum mechanics.

This event is part of the Modern physics lecture series – just one of the offerings presented by the Faculty of Physics to mark the 2025 International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
